Dr MM Kapur completed his higher education at Delhi and Calcutta Universities and is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. He started his career in surgery at Sheffield University and later at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. He rose over time to the post of Professor of Surgery and headed a unit that provided advanced Surgical service in Endocrine Surgery, Male infertility and Contraception.
He was awarded the Commonwealth Fellowship, the W.H.O. visiting Scientist Award and the Oration of the Endocrine Society of India. He has an interest in Medical Education, and served as sub-Dean and later as Dean at the A.I.I.M.S. He introduced community orientation of the training programme of Medical Undergraduates.
In 1986, he joined the W.H.O. and served as Team leader of a Project providing quality assurance in clinical contraceptive services in Bangladesh. He later served as Regional Advisor Medical Research at the Regional Office in Delhi. He has been a member of the steering committee of W.H.O. task force on Male Methods of Fertility Regulation at Geneva.
He has also served as an examiner for Universities in India and the Royal College of Surgeons. He has published in scientific journals and texts related to Surgery and health care. He continues his interest in the practice of health care and its changing trends in our country.
