Aspirin and pancreas cancer deaths

There has been past evidence from some studies that aspirin may reduce the risk of pancreatic cancer, however, new studies have failed to confirm this association.Researchers from the American Cancer Society in Atlanta analysed the data from nearly 1 million adults enrolled in the Cancer Prevention Study II. As part of the study, subjects completed questionnaires about aspirin use and other factors in 1982 and were then tracked upto 2000. During follow-up, 4577 people died from pancreatic cancer. Taking aspirin, even 30 or more times per month, did not seem to affect the risk of death from pancreatic cancer. This held true for men and women, regardless of cigarette smoking status. The study conducted did not suggest any association of between aspirin use and pancreatic cancer mortality, despite being able to examine both frequent and long-duration use.
