Dr J Dilawari had undergraduate training in Munich University, West Germany, and worked in Munich University Hospitals. He moved to London, UK, where he obtained his Post Graduate Qualifications and training in Gastroenterology at the Central Middlesex and Middlesex Hospital, London University. He obtained his MRCP and FRCP from the Royal College of Physicians, London. He has taught at the universities of Munich (West Germany) and London (UK). He then returned to Post Graduate Institute for Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, where he eventually became Professor and Head of Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He left PGI in 1998, and is now working as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Greenock, UK, and Senior Lecturer in Medicine at Glasgow University, Scotland, UK.
His clinical and research interests are in the field of gastroenterology and liver diseases. He has guided many MD and PhD students over the years. He has more than 200 publications to his credit in international journals. He has written chapters on Endoscopy, Gastrointestinal and Liver Disorders.
