Dr Deepa Hariharan did her MBBS from Kilpauk Medical College, Madras, India and Pediatric Residency at the Cook County Hospital, Chicago. She did her Neonatology Fellowship from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

At present: She is the Head of the Department of Neonatology at Kanchi Kamakoti CHILDS Trust Hospital, Nungambakkam, Chennai – 600 034 and also, Senior Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist, Apollo Hospitals and First Med Hospital, Chennai.
She is the recipient of the prestigious “ANNA MEDAL” from the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, for topping the state of Tamil Nadu in the Higher Secondary examination. She was Gold-medallist in final MBBS examination, Kilpauk Medical College, University of Madras and a top scorer in Paediatric Certifying Examination of the American Board of Paediatrics at Cook County Hospital, Chicago (1996). She was selected for a coveted 3-year fellowship in neonatology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (University of Pennsylvania), the world’s leading children’s hospital. She has done research about transmission of AIDS in newborn infants published in several prestigious international journals. She has been instrumental in starting the Center for Preventive Perinatology, the first of its kind in Asia, with the goal of reducing the incidence of birth asphyxia and perinatal morbidity in Chennai; as associate co-ordinator, helped in raising funds to the tune of Rs. 55 lakhs for this organization from Chennai Willington Corporate Foundation.
