Dr M C Gupta is a doctor turned lawyer. He is MBBS and MD in Medicine from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and was a faculty member there for 18 years. Later, he was Professor and Dean at the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare. He has been a Fellow of the United Nations University. His special interests have been nutrition, training and public health. He was the recipient of the National Citizen Award, 1992. His books include medical textbooks; popular health science books; a reference book titled Health and Law.
He holds an LL.B degree from Delhi University and LL.M. from Kurukshetra University. He is a practising advocate with health and medical law as the area of special interest. He is a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association and Indian Law Institute. He is the Chief Editor for the Health and Law course material for the one year distance learning course offered by Academy of Hospital Administration. He is also the Editor of Docland Times, a monthly bulletin for the medical profession, with focus on medico-legal issues, being launched in January 2008.
