Dr. Shiban K. Chaku is a Senior Consultant Surgeon at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi. His special interest is Vascular Diseases, particularly Vascular Surgery.
He graduated in medicine from the University of Calcutta in 1968. He was awarded a Gold Medal in Surgery and a Medal in Pathology. After working in Delhi at the Safdarjang Hospital and Central Government Health Scheme he moved to UK in 1975 for further training. There he completed his study of FRCS and qualified the examination from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1979. He continued to work in UK for a period of 12 years, undergoing training in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery before moving to Saudi Arabia. Here he was appointed as Consultant and Chief of Surgery at King Faisal Hospital at Taif for a period of 2 years.
Dr. Chaku has been associated with Apollo Hospital right from its inception in 1995. He worked as a General Surgeon initially but now his area of interest is mainly in Vascular Surgery. He is also a member of The Vascular Society of India.
