The 7 Mistakes Pregnant Woman Should Never Repeat

Even if you know everything about right eating habits, exercise and other nuances of pregnancy, there are still chances that you might fall prey to some of the most common mistakes that every expectant mother (mostly first-time mums) makes, albeit unknowingly.

The 7 Mistakes Pregnant Woman Should Never Repeat

Pregnant and happy? It is that phase in a woman's life when she is preparing to become a mother. Becoming one is not easy. From eating correct to leading a disciplined life, a pregnant woman is supposed to be highly careful. There are parameters like diet, exercise, and similar more, a would-be mother should keep in mind during her nine months' journey. Though, in the process, it is possible that women make mistakes unknowingly. There is nothing to worry!

Take a look at the following mistakes that pregnant women make but they should never repeat them:

1. Eating for two

Pregnant women are often fed with more food than needed. It is important to eat well but one should focus on the right proportion. For an expectant mother, the daily calorie intake should be from 1800 to 2000 calories. The tiny fetus needs 300 calories (more than the normal calorie intake) that should primarily involve nutrients. In this regard, it is required to have a diet rich in nutrients and proteins. Add food items like nuts, eggs, green vegetables and fruits for the right protein intake. Also, drink lots of water to stay hydrated. Check your weight regularly and consult your doctor if you notice any abnormal weight gain. Avoid eating junk, drinking alcohol or smoking. It will directly affect the baby.

2. Avoid self-medication

If you are pregnant then avoid self-medicating at all costs. Do not take even paracetamols, antacids or use any kind of acne creams without talking to your treating doctor. Also, avoid undergoing any extensive beauty treatment without supervision.

3. Not sleeping enough

Take rest and sleep as much as you can. Adequate amount of rest will help you meet with your physical and hormonal developments. Sleep for at least eight hours a day. At the same time, you should avoid oversleeping as it can lead to erratic cycles of sleep post-delivery.

4. Not giving any human feel to your bump

Understand that the tiny fetus inside you is blooming into a beautiful human being. You should 'feel' your baby bump and experience the kicks. It is essential for you to bond with the baby and feeling the bump is a good way to begin with.

5. Eating comfort food and not exercising

Pregnancy comes with irregular eating habits. Keep a strict check on your sugar consumption. Larger intakes of sugar can lead to gestational diabetes. Same goes for eating spicy food. Avoid fried and junk food. In addition, if you are not doing pregnancy based exercises, it will hamper you and your child. Do yoga for healthy fetus development. Speak to your gynecologist who can help you with the ideal exercises.

6. Laid back attitude in healthcare

You must understand that pregnancy is a phase that will not repeat several times. Maintain a plan for your daily lifestyle with your doctor and make sure to stick to it. Also, talk to your doctor about your choice of childbirth and discuss all your doubts and apprehensions. Make sure, you are comfortable and that your inhibitions are well met with.

7. Not being aware of postnatal or postpartum depression

A lot of people are unaware of this kind of depression. It occurs in women post-delivery as they fell a sudden load of responsibilities. The depression may also occur due to hormonal changes and needs to be addressed. You can join a postnatal care class and understand how you can overcome it.
