Women can benefit from Viagra

Sildenafil, commonly known as Viagra, is the first oral drug to enhance erections in men. It is one of the greatest developments in the treatment of male erectile dysfunction (impotence). This anti-impotence drug that has improved the sex lives of men, also appears to work in women, as reported by an Italian sexologist. In a study at the University of Catania in Italy on the use of Viagra in women with sexual arousal disorder, the scientists tested the pills on 51 women between the ages of 22-38. The women were selected to receive Viagra in 25 mg or 50 mg doses or a placebo over three to four-week periods. Each month the women rated their arousal, orgasms, enjoyment and sexual fantasies on a five-point scale. The scientists reported that arousal scores of the women taking Viagra rose from 1.5 to 4.2 on both drug doses. But the placebo group only achieved a 2.6 grade. The results demonstrated that Viagra might directly improve female arousal disorder and other sexual functions such as enjoyment and orgasm. Many women will be delighted by these findings. The enjoyment scores, intercourse frequency and sexual fantasies, all rose in the women of the Viagra group. The results provided sufficient evidence that Viagra affects women in a way similar to that in men with erectile dysfunction.
