Inhaled insulin provides relief to diabetics

Inhaled insulin is emerging as the latest breakthrough in the treatment of diabetes. Over the years, there has been a rapid change in the modes of treatment, given to diabetics. One of them is primarily evident in the delivery of insulin in the body whereby inhaled insulin is emerging as providing better and faster relief as compared to injected doses. Comparing these two, it has been seen that the inhaled form, going directly into the lungs rather than, through the stomach, is providing more satisfaction and a better quality of life to the patients. In a recent efficacy study, across 40 centres in the US, treatment satisfaction was assessed in 120 teens and 207 adults with type 1 diabetes, given both the inhaled and the injected doses, it was seen that the patients in the inhaled group had a greater increase in overall treatment satisfaction than did those in the injected insulin group regimen. What's more, the effects did not vary by age or sex. The satisfaction was evident in factors such as, mental health, thinking ability, ability to concentrate and a better general health status.
