What does abnormal increase in WBC signify?
Q: I am a 35 years old male weighing 65 kg. I underwent haemogram which showed WBC - 12800 /cu mm. What does it indicate? How can I manage it?
A:Abnormal increase in white cell counts in a young person signifies infections, inflammation and a variety of other causes. What you require is to get a complete blood count (CBC) with differential leukocyte counts and peripheral blood film examination. This mild increase in WBC counts does not give any information if the patient is asymptomatic.
