Short tempered

Q: I am 41 yrs old and suffer from hypertension measuring 130/90. I become very furious within very short time on anything against my wishes or anything I see wrong. Please tell me if there is any medicine or any sort of meditation by which I can control my anger.

A:I have very little information from you upon which to base my advice. Your problem of anger could be due to your natural temperament, or it could be due to a treatable emotional problem. Since this has troubled you for some time, it would be advisable for you to consult with a psychiatrist, psychologist, social worker, or other mental health professional. That person could interview you and perhaps the two of you could come to an understanding of the cause of you problem, and what could help. One possibility is that you suffer from a hidden depression that might be helped by a medication for medication, but that cannot be determined by your brief note.
