How to keep high BP under control?
Q: My age is 33 years and my BP is presently-100/140 mm Hg. I had gone for a BP check-up due to giddiness and a feeling of uneasiness. I have been advised to take less salt and less spicy food. Please suggest a remedy and what precautions do I take? Is this dangerous? Please also advise how to make my BP normal and what reliable medicine without any side effect can be taken?
A:Your BP level is high as per the definition. The diastolic BP should be less than 85 mm Hg. It, however, does not seem to be alarming. Take less salt, a low calorie diet and do exercise like a brisk walk/jog every day for more than 30 mins. Get your BP checked a few more times in the next few weeks. If it is still more than I40/85 consult your doctor, who will prescribe some drug. There are several drugs available which are safe and effective. These are however required for a long pedriod of time.
