How to keep blood pressure under check?
Q: I have taken high blood pressure medicine for two years. For the last one year, my blood pressure is absolutely normal so on the advice of my doctor I discontinued the medicine last year. Someone told me that it is not advisable to discontinue the medicine because no medicine of BP will work in case of high BP in future. Kindly advise.
A:The aim is to have a BP less than 140/85 mm Hg. If it has been achieved without drugs now, it is very good. Keep checking the BP periodically. It is advisable to take a low salt, low calorie diet and be physically very active.
