Are triline and tridot tests for HIV reliable?

Q: Are Triline and Tridot tests reliable? If so, what is the time taken by these tests to detect HIV infection?

A:Yes, Tridot and Triline tests are both reliable tests and fall into the category of rapid tests. If ELISA is not available for any reason, these tests are recommended. Like other ERS (ELISA, Rapid and Simple tests), these tests also detect HIV antibodies, and are therefore not useful in the window period. The window period is generally 12 weeks, but may in some rare instances extend to 24 weeks. ERS tests should only be used after the window period.
