Will alochol level affect the insurance claim?
Q: My 23 years old friend died on the spot in a road accident. The post mortem report says that there was 200 ml alcohol in his stomach. Will this effect his insurance claim?
A:Yes, it will effect the payment of the insurance claim. The policy specifically excludes coverage of any illness, injury or disease, which is a result of alcohol consumption. Please note that technically, the premiums charged to the policyholder are based on certain risk assumptions and morbidity statistics. The moment alcohol related ailments/injuries are covered, then the risk goes up and so will the premiums. As a policy, almost all, if not all, the insurers do not cover this.
