Which are the globally banned drugs sold in India?

Q: Is it safe to use Nimesulide and is it true that it has been globally discarded, and can you please tell me a few very commonly used hazardous medicines, which have been banned?

A:Nimesulide was discovered by an American company but never approved for use in American patients. It is also not approved for use in Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and over 150 other countries. Due to lax laws, it is permitted for use in some developing countries like India. However its use in children even in developing countries has been banned (except India where its use is permitted even in a new born). The other globally discarded/banned drugs being sold in India are analgin, cisapride, phenylbutazone, phenylpropanolamine, droperidol, furazolidone, piperazine, nitrofurazone, quinidochlor, etc.
