What is the treatment for retinal vasculitis?
Q: I am 47 years old. My angiography reports show that on my left eye ANA is positive (1.20). The impression is retinal vasculitis. Is it serious to my eyes and is there any medicine for this?
A:Your eye specialist needs to try to find the cause of retinal vasculitis and treat it accordingly. The trouble is in majority of cases, cause can not be established and treatment is by Steroids, laser and non-steroidal anti inflammatory treatment. The disease can be serious if it affects the central area in which case, vision may be affected. In India present or past tuberculosis can be responsible. If you have any visual problems, you need treatment. Sometimes, it may remain silent i.e. not progress in which case you have nothing to worry about. The disease can be self limiting.
