What is the cause for boils on the eyelids?
Q: My 5 year daughter has a boil on the eyelid which is not paining. What is the remedy for this problem?
A:The boil on the lid may be a chronic inflammation in one of the lid glands (Meibomian glands) called chalazion. The child must be seen by an eye specialist to rule out the possibility of refractive errors. This particular swelling may be treated with local medication. If it fails to resolve, a small surgery will cure the problem.
