What is cylindrical power?
Q: What is cylindrical power? How does it occur and what are the symptoms? Is it curable?
A:A cylindrical power is due to an abnormal oval shape of the eye ball or cornea. Normally it should be round like a foot ball. This requires cylindrical lenses in spectacles. It is also called astigmatism. You are borne with this condition and it never gets better. It varies in degrees and sometimes requires contact lenses to correct the vision. This can be caused by trauma or ulcer of the cornea as well. One of the treatments is LASER but surgery also is possible but these can have their own risks so one should not think about them unless it is intolerable.
