A:She should get another test, either using a different kit at the same hospital, or at a different lab (also so that a different kit is used). If it again comes positive, then I am afraid the lady in question is most probably infected with HIV. In any case until she gets the second test, she must avoid unprotected sexual intercourse with any one. She should also get her usual sexual partner checked for HIV infection. She must take an appointment and consult a counsellor.
