What are the drugs to treat acidity?

Q: ACIGON is a drug for acidity is now a days not available in tablet form. I request you to name a drug with similar content. I have tried Gellusil, Diagene, Ulgel but not effective. Please Help.

A:Ulgel is a very effective and relatively safe antacid that contains magaldrate and simethicone. Magaldrate is a combination of aluminium and magnesium hydroxides and sulphates. It is widely used in USA, UK, Canada, Austrialia and a large number of other advanced countries. How many tablets were you consuming? It is possible that adequate dose was not being taken. In fact most of the people who report inadequate response are the ones who are not taking normal dose but just one or two tablets a day. Each tablet of Ulgel contains 400mg of magaldrate and upto 5 tablets can be taken per day. In case you still do not get relief, you can try Gaviscon (marketed by Reckitts). It is an equivalent of Acigon.
