Root canal treatment

Q: I had root canal treatment in my top left third and fourth teeth about 8 years back in India. About 30 days back I had gum infection in around these teeth. Had gum cleaning and two courses of antibiotics (amoxycillin and Brufen) with mouthwash and pyralvex paint. The Gum looks alright outside. Some time I feel mild pain in the root of the 3rd and 4th teeth and pain in the 3rd and 4th teeth. X-ray of these teeth has been taken and the Dr. says it is ok. As I am having still pain in the 3rd and 4th teeth, what is the reason for this pain? Can it be cured by medicines alone and which ones? If medicines cannot cure what should be further step to avoid any extraction? Can the root canal treatment be repeated? If I delay the treatment till I return to India after some months what impact will be there in all teeth? I feel some change of sensation in the adjacent 2nd and 5th teeth. Would these teeth also would have been affected/infected? Please give suggestions.

A:Since x ray of the root canal treated tooth is seemingly alright it most likely related to your gums problem. If your problem persists you may see a periodontist (gum specialist). Unless the severity of your complaint does not bother you, it may be possible to treat it symptomatically till you come to India and get it attended to.
