Q: Is there any side affects of laser eye operation?. What is the desired age for operation? Can one join the defence force after undergoing laser eye operation? Would be grateful for an early reply.
A:Laser surgery for removal of spectacles is a cosmetic surgery with patient satisfaction upto 95% the few side effects are under/over correction, glare, corneal haze, dry eye. The surgery should be done after18-21 years when the power becomes stable it is ideal between -2.0 to -8.0 diopters of power. is difficult to detect the scars of surgery on routine examination we are not aware of the defence selection rules.
