Is yoga beneficial during pregnancy?
Q: During the process of infertility treatment, I went through laparoscopy and was detected with TB infection. I have to take medicines for 9 months. I want to start yoga on my own. I have read that the following asanas should not be done by TB patients - sarvangasana, viparikarni, pascimatana, halasana and uddiyana. I have been doing yoga, before I went through the test. I am abroad therefore, I cannot attend any yoga classes. I wanted to do some easy asanas on my own. Please guide me on this. When can I start with them after laparoscopy?
A:Exercise during pregnancy should be carried out as usual unless this is extreme such as exhausting aerobics or competitive contact sports. Easier yoga is helpful throughout pregnancy and beyond but strenuous exercise should be decreased and then slowly increased after birth.
