Can stem cell therapy treat ambloypia?
Q: I am a 22 years old boy. I have a plus power in the left eye. It is ambloypic as well. The right one is fine. As far as I know, this can't be corrected at this age. I tried patching techniques, when I first came to know about this problem. Can the stem cell treatment help me? What are the latest techniques of treating ambloypia
A:Ambloypia or lazy eye is caused by poor development of brain cells which are responsible for vision due to lack of normal vision in childhood for whatever reasons. The lack of proper glasses could be one such reason. This is why stem cell therapy is not going to be helpful. Although it cannot be proven, but some improvement is still possible with patching the good eye with glasses on for the poor eye. Moreover, as this can also be hereditary, make sure all children, including future ones, are checked as early as possible to prevent this problem or to treat it in time.
