Can my daughter travel during pregnancy?
Q: My 32 years old daughter is into her 17th week of pregnancy. She is currently in US and is going to visit India soon. Is travelling safe for her? Can a girl at this age have a normal delivery? She also has a notion that Indian doctors opt for c-section to make their work easier. Is it true?
A:Travel of this degree is OK provided her body is doing fine with it. Yes, she can certainly have a vaginal delivery unless there is an indication for an operative intervention. I am sure that her opinion of Indian doctors is not true as in hospitals a case is monitored by resident doctors and the senior consultant only comes later at the time of the delivery. So, there is no question of a doctor finishing work early and pushing off.
