Can baby's position be changed a week before delivery?
Q: My 21 years old wife had a c-section as the baby was in breech position. When we visited the doctor last time a week before delivery, the doctor said that the baby was in normal position with head down. But when my wife started having labour pains, the doctor did an ultrasound and found out that the baby was in breech position and had to do a c-section. Is it possible to change the baby’s position a week before delivery?
A:No, it is usually not possible to change the position in the last week before labour. The best time is around 34-36 weeks, also if there are no dangers involved. Selection of cases for changing babies position has to be done carefully after considering many factors like placenta position, amount of fluid, baby and pelvis size, any other medical conditions and so on and so forth.
