Can a single blood glucose reading confirm diabetes?
Q: My fasting glucose reading taken last year was 85 and the recent one is 109. Am I diabetic? If so, what changes in diet are required? I regularly work out for 1 hour and walk for 1 hour.
A:No, you do not have diabetes. My suggestion is that you should get an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) done i.e., Fasting blood glucose (FBG) and 2-hour post 75 gm glucose. Normal values are F<100 mg/DL and post prandial (PP)<140 mg/dl. If it is abnormal, then maybe you need to do something.
