Are the low vision devices available in India?
Q: I wanted to know if there are Low Vision Devices available in Mumbai or anywhere in India. It is available in USA Atlanta by the name of Jordy Low Vision Device [Emory Eye Centre Atlanta USA, email: nwitkin@emory.edu (Dr. Ned Witkin); jacquelin_patterson@emoryhealth.org]. Is it also available in India?
A:Low vision devices are available in India at various places including Sankara Nethralaya Chennai. They can also be bought from L.V.Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad and other centres like Balliwala & Homi, Mumbai. Imported low vision devices are more expensive than the indigenous ones. It is best to have an assessment by a low vision specialist attached to a low vision clinic (such as in Chennai and Hyderabad) so that the correct and most appropriate device may be procured.
