Will surgery cure my squint?
Q: I am 26 years old and have a squint in my eyes since I was in school. The doctors say that it's a 25 degree divergent squint, which can be removed by surgery. Will it help in curing squint? How much time will it take to recover from surgery? How much will a surgery cost approximately? Will it be a Laser surgery?
A:Squint surgery can correct the squint reasonably well, provided it is done by a squint specialist. It takes a month for the surgical area to heal fully, though you can be back to work within 2 days. The surgery can cost anywhere between Rs. 10,000 - 15,000/- The surgery is done to adjust the action of muscles moving the eye. It is not done by Laser since it involves putting stitches.
