Will LASIK surgery be effective for a high eye power?
Q: My 30 years old friend is using contact lenses of power –14. He wants to get laser surgery done to remove this defect completely. But we have heard that only power till –10 can be dealt with LASIK surgery. It it true?
A:Your friend needs to undergo an evaluation to decide what will be the best procedure to allow him to get rid of his glasses. Apart from LASIK surgery, implantable contact lenses or ICLs are the recommended option for patients with high powers. During this procedure lasting around 15 minutes, a lens is inserted inside the eye after applying some numbing eye drops.
