Why haven't I reached menopause even at 55 years?

Q: I am a 55 years old lady. I am still getting periods exactly on 25th or 26th of every month. I consulted the gynaecologist and as per her advise, I got my uterus scanned for any disease and everything has come out to be normal. I am fed up with the monthly periods. Is there any way out to stop getting periods?

A:Some people do get their menopause quite late. If all is well with the ultrasound and clinical examinations, there is nothing to worry. Also, you are not a heavy bleeder. So, I suggest wait and watch another year and then reassess the situation.
