Why does my wife have frequent urinary tract infections?
Q: My wife is 24 years old. The formation of white blood cells in my wife's body is more, for which the doctor has given antibiotics. She has urine infection as well, due to which she has fever every time. I have pain in my abdomen and am furious to take antibiotics because of their side effects. We are newly married age. Please advise.
A:Lower urinary tract infection in women is very common after sexual intercourse, especially in newlyweds. It results from irritation and bruising from frequent and prolonged sexual intercourse. The symptoms may include a burning or painful sensation during urination, the urge to urinate frequently, cloudy urine, blood-tinged urine, and/or pain above the pubic bone. It's a localized infection of the urethra (urethritis). Her total leukocyte count is high due to the infection and she will require a short-term course of antibiotics to clear up the infection and pyridium for the pain.
