Why do I have pimples on the inner part of my tongue?

Q: I am a 26 years old man having pimple like things on my inner tongue near the tonsils for the last 6 years. I got them while living in a hot area. The pimples were big in size though there was no pain. I can eat spicy food without any problem. I smoke regularly and drink occasionally. The doctor told me that it is due to the heat and suggested some ointment. I have consulted an ayurvedic doctor too for the same. The size of the pimples has reduced but has not gone completely. Sometimes there is a voice disorder due to this and causes me problems in pronunciation, voice modulation and while speaking in the cold. How it can be cured? What should I do? Please advise.

A:You have some small swelling in the tongue, which according to your description is asymptomatic. Small nodular swellings are normally present on the tongue arranged in a sort of V at same level as tonsils. These are taste buds and are sometimes visible when you see your throat in the mirror. Voice problem is different and may not be related to your tongue problem. Get yourself thoroughly examined by ENT doctor and if what you call a pimple is a taste bud then be assured there is nothing to worry.
