Why do I have pain in my elbow, shoulder and neck?

Q: I am 35 years old and suffering from pain in my right hand from elbow to the shoulder and keeps shifting up and down and sometimes there is pain in the right side of the neck.

A:From your complaints, it appears that you are having pain in your right upper limb which at times spreads up and down. If I got it right, it basically involves right arm with a tendency to go upto neck. It appears that you might be having some stretching of roots (origin of nerves from the spinal cord) on the right side. These are called root pains and typically increase with bending, coughing and sneezing. These are usually caused by prolapsed intervertebral disc (which is actually a jelly like cementing material between the backbones). Sometimes, these get aggravated due to bad posture of our neck (while at work or during sleep). You need to consult a neurologist in person.
