Why do I have itching all over the body?
Q: I am a 60 years old male who has an itching problem. Three months back, my blood sugar level was about 206 mg/dl and now it is under control (120-140 mg/dl). I took Glyciphage tablets for controlling blood sugar level. What is the cause for this?
A:Itching all over the body, without any visible changes on the skin can be due to a number of causes which includes diabetes mellitus itself. It may result from reaction to chemicals entering the body (e.g. preservatives and colouring agents in food, drugs being taken for another illness etc.), liver or kidney disease, neoplastic disorder etc. Simple dryness of skin can also cause itching. If the problem persists, then consult your family doctor.
