Why do I have irregular periods?

Q: I am a 23 years old woman having irregular periods. I missed my periods for 3 months so I was given Rogestron and from the second day of period Letoval for 5 days. Now again I didn’t get my periods. What could be the reason? Will this tablet help me to get the periods or to conceive? I took home pregnancy test on the first day of my missed period, which was negative. Please advise.

A:Irregular periods are usually due to anovulatory cycles, which are due to hormonal imbalance. You need to get your thyroid and prolactin level checked and in case they are normal and you are desirous to conceive, you will have to take ovulation-inducing drugs. Get in touch with infertility specialist for the same.
