Why do I have floaters and dark spots in my eyes?
Q: I am a 38 years old male, experiencing discomfort in my right eye, including difficulty in eye movement, redness of the eye and frequent watering. I also see some floating particles and dark spots in my eyes. My right eye gets strained very often and starts watering. I consulted an eye specialist and he did not find any problem with my eyes. What can be the reason of my problems then?
A:You can try a course of lubricating eye drops for the discomfort and watering that is occurring in the eyes. Floaters/dark spots are changes taking place in the vitreous (jelly) of the eye. These spots are called muscae volitantes and are innocuous; a course of antioxidants orally may improve the situation.
