Why do I get vaginal discharge after menstruation?
Q: I am a 22 years old female and I am getting a kind of vaginal discharge for 4 to 5 days after my periods. Please help.
A:If the discharge is small in amount and clear with no itching, then nothing needs to be done. If the discharge is heavier, coloured and smelly you need to get a check up with vaginal swab and antibiotic treatment depending on the cause of the discharge. In some cases, husband too will need to be treated. If you do go for a checkup, then a Pap smear at the same time is a good idea. It checks out infection as well as any possible risk of early cancer of cervix/uterus as well, which too maybe is causing the discharge.
