Why am I unable to conceive?

Q: I am a 30 years old woman trying to conceive a baby for the last 14 months. I have gone through some tests and have been diagnosed with high level of prolactin (24 ug/L). I have been taking Bcrip 2.5 mg, but it causes drowsiness and dizziness. I also get extremely moody and stressed without a reason sometimes. In spite of taking the medicine regularly I still have not been able to conceive. Please advise.

A:If you are getting regular periods and your day 21 progesterone level is more than 8 ng/ml then you do not need bromocriptine at all. Secondly, the value of 24 ug/L is borderline and only values which are over 50 or are high on repeated testing are to be treated. This medicine is best taken vaginally and not orally as when it goes through the liver causes intense drowsiness and will interfere in your daily chores.
