Why am I suffering from irregular menses?
Q: I am a 30 years old female who give birth a child last year through c-section. I had periods for 40 days and then stopped for 1 week. After that, I had periods for 8 days then stopped for 1 week. I consulted my doctor who told me that it is due to hormonal imbalance and suggested to take Cerazette for 4-5 months. But two months back, I got periods twice in a month and after 13 days I got some spotting for a couple of days and a brown discharge. Ten days back, I had stopped taking Cerazette. I am still breastfeeding my baby. Why am I suffering from irregular menses?
A:Menses after delivery can start after 3 / 6 / 8 months. While breast feeding you do not need active contraception, as the method is reliable in preventing pregnancy for that time, with an 85% efficacy. To account for failures, you can add the use of condoms or IUCDs.
