Why am I not conceiving?

Q: I am a married woman with a 4-year-old child. We are planning to have another baby but I am unable to conceive. I approached a gynaecologist who asked me to check the fallopian tube blockages by HSG sonography. The result was normal and tubes were clear without any blockages, the uterus was normal too. I was kept under watch through sonography for ovulation check and it was found that ovulation took place on the 16th day. The doctor told me to make contact on that day but I am still not able to conceive. Is there any medicine that can help me confirm my pregnancy? The doctor told me to wait for a month; after that she shall prescribe some medicine. How can I conceive? Can it be due to lack of haemoglobin?

A:In general, if you have only been trying for less than a year, there is no need to worry. It usually takes upto one year to conceive. After that some sort of work up is in order. Do not stress yourself too much about days etc. Stress in fact interferes with your ability to conceive. Please talk to your doctor and find out.
