Q: Please solve my problem. I am suffering from heavy bleeding since three months. I was on Meprate for a few days but it did not help. The bleeding stopped for sometimes and then started again with pain after sex. We are planning a child but the bleeding is not stopping. Why is this so?

A:I do not think heavy bleeding is connected with sexual intercourse; it appears to be just coincidence. If there was a problem in the vaginal wall, the bleeding will be minor. In your case the blood is coming from uterine cavity. You could be suffering from Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding. Please consult a good gynaecologist. Meprate (medroxyprogesterone) is a correct medicine for DUB. However it is to be taken for 2-3 cycles each for about 10 days. If you take the medicine in the correct dose for correct duration, it should be effective.
