What makes cylindrical power worse?
Q: My seven years old daughter has -3.0 cylindrical powers in both the eyes. Is this the highest power in cylindrical? Are there any chances to get myopia? How to prevent myopia?
A:This is not the highest power in cylindrical but usually the limit up to which spectacle correction is satisfactory after this contact lenses are recommended. There is no satisfactory measure to prevent myopia but general hygiene of the eyes like not reading in poor light and balanced diet helps. Rubbing the eyes should be avoided because children, who can not see properly tend to get tired and rub their eyes and this can make astigmatism (cylindrical power) worse.
