What is the treatment for scar on the retina?
Q: My nephew aged 19 years is suffering from a defect in the right eye - scar on the retina. The same was detected 4 years back and I am told that there is no surgery/remedy for the same. I would be obliged if something can be done or available as a cure.
A:If your nephew has a scar on the retina, there is usually nothing which can be done for that. However the information you have given is quite inadequate. We would need a detailed history and examination findings of your ophthalmologist to be able to give an opinion. It would be important to try and establish the cause so that preventive action, if possible, can be taken to prevent recurrence or involvement of the other eye.
