What is the treatment for a seasonal allergic eye infection?
Q: Is it not possible to cure allergic eye infection due to pollutant/dust without Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate solution? I developed this problem during season change and every time the eye specialist prescribed the above mentioned steroid eye drop. Is it safe to take steroids? Is there any alternative drug to control allergic eye infection?
A:There are various options to treat allergic conjunctivitis. Steroids give immediate relief so they are popular. Other options include mast cell stabilizers, anti histaminics and non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs. Non drug options include goggles to prevent from dust and cold compresses to give relief from itching. Kindly discuss these options with your eye specialist.
