Q: What is the difference between Atenolol, Propranolol, Metoprolol which are all beta blockers but which one is best to treat irregular heart beats and a BP of 130/90. Please suggest.

A:Atenolol and Metoprolol are cardio selective Beta blockers. Both are effective in controlling irregular heart beat. Atenolol has a longer half life and can be taken once a day while Metoprolol needs to be taken twice daily. Both these drugs would be effective in controlling the blood pressure as well.
