What is the cause for under development of the foetus?
Q: One of my friends wife who was pregnant for three months started bleeding. They went to a clinic for check up where it was found that the foetus did not develop after seven weeks and advised for immediate abortion (there was no pulse). My question is (i) what can be the possible reason for this (non-development) (ii) the dead foetus remained in the womb for at least one month. Is there any chace of serious infection in this case? (iii) Can this abortion affect the future pregnancy? (iv) Are there any test for know the reason for under development of foetus?
A:It is an inherent defect within the baby. There is no chance of an infection provided there is no handling or interference within the womb. If the same defect does not repeat itself. Chromosal analysis of the parents could be beneficial.
