What does my sperm analysis suggest?
Q: I am a 30 years old male who underwent sperm analysis which showed sperm count - 38 mill/ml. Actively motile (1/2 hour) - 30%, sluggishly motile (1/2 hour) - 30%, non-motile (1/2 hour) - 40% and pus cell - 8-10/hpf. Can I become a father?
A:The semen parameters appear to be normal but for someone at your age they can be higher. If you are concerned, you should both repeat the semen analysis and be checked for a varicocoele which is the most common cause of abnormal semen parameters. There are several factors (including female factors) that decide whether you can father a child. The pus cells in your semen are certainly not normal and you should discuss the possibility of a urogenital infection with your urologist.
