What does bleeding during pregnancy indicate?
Q: I am a 24 years old pregnant woman. During my 6th week of pregnancy, I had bleeding and the scan report states that the foetus is fine. What does bleeding during pregnancy indicate?
A:This indicates that it may be a threatened abortion, or missed abortion or a placental separation. An ultrasound scan to confirm the gestation and fetal viability is needed, and treatment will depend upon that. In case of a missed abortion, may need a uterine evacuation, and in case of a threatened abortion with a live fetus, measures like rest and some oral medications to stop the bleeding and save the pregnancy can be taken.
